Next Media Group senior Zhang Jianhong and Luo Weiguang involved in violation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, interrogated on the 19th and held for retrial on August 13

  The National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police Force took action on the 17th and arrested 5 senior officials of Apple Daily.

Among them, Zhang Jianhong, Chief Executive Officer of Next Media, Luo Weiguang, Editor-in-Chief of Apple Daily, and three related companies of Apple Daily were charged with conspiracy to “collaborate with foreign countries or foreign forces to endanger national security.” The case took place in Hong Kong West on the morning of June 19 Trial in Kowloon Magistrates' Courts.

  The prosecution applied for adjournment of the case until August 13 for retrial, pending further investigation by the police, including inspections of 40 computers and 16 servers seized earlier.

Su Huide, the designated judge and chief magistrate of the Hong Kong National Security Law, finally approved the adjournment of the case until the afternoon of August 13.
