Employee representatives had given Europe 1 management until 1:30 p.m. to reconsider its decision to lay off a journalist.

According to puremédias, the president of the news center of Lagardère announced by email her refusal to cancel the current disciplinary procedure.

The employees of the station have therefore decided to go on strike until Monday 10 a.m., while tensions multiply within the station against a background of rapprochement with the CNews news channel.

"The employees of Europe 1 gathered in a general meeting this Friday afternoon, June 18, have decided on the principle of an immediate strike", announced the inter-union CGT, CFTC, FO, SNJ of Europe 1 and the office of the Society of Editors (SDR) in an internal mail.

The strike will last all weekend and a new GA will be held on Monday morning.
