Pink feathers as far as the eye can see, colorful flowers the size of a fist and a hat that truly resembles a bird's nest: the famous Royal Ascot racing week is taking place in Great Britain these days.

As every year, the women in particular make the hat obligation there a virtue - so that the sport is almost a minor matter.

The hat fashion at Royal Ascot follows its own rules: the more conspicuous, the better, so that aesthetics are sometimes a minor matter. However, if you have a ticket for the coveted Royal Enclosure, you have to bow to strict regulations. For women, the headdress must have a diameter of at least ten centimeters. Fascinators, i.e. headdresses that do not have their own holding power and have to be actively attached with hairpins or the like, are not allowed there. Hats or outfits in general that advertise certain brands or products are also not permitted. The gentlemen have to wear a top hat - but without any style of their own: personal accents such as colorful ribbons are prohibited.

The race week has been held annually since 1768 in mid-June under the patronage of the royal family.

Due to the corona pandemic, however, no spectators were able to participate last year.

This year the grandstands are full again.

On the opening day, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla came - he with the classic top hat, she with a rather flat hat in light blue.

Princess Anne and her daughter Zara Tindall were also already sitting in the audience wearing elegant, light-colored headgear.

But now you are asked: Who does the hat look particularly good on?

Are you more convinced by the simple variants of the Royals - or can it be more extravagant than with many a visitor?

Or is it Jimbo, the dog, who looks best in the hat?
