Until August 29, the Jeu de Paume in Paris is hosting a retrospective exhibition of the work of German photographer Michael Schmidt (1945-2014).

Born in a Berlin destroyed by the bombings of World War II, he devoted most of his work to his hometown.

In particular in West Berlin, in the districts of Kreuzberg and Wedding.

Considered one of the pillars of 20th century German art, he portrays a somewhat lost youth in the

Waffenruhe

(Ceasefire) series in 1987. Here is a journey, in pictures, in the West Berlin from the 1970s and 1980s.
