In three days, we will officially start the summer.

But the mercury has already risen more than necessary in recent days.

With the heat, and the thirst that comes with it, it is sometimes difficult to know how to eat.

Europe 1 health consultant Jimmy Mohamed explains how to eat well during strong heat waves so as not to be dehydrated.

Ice creams, barbecue and fruit ... For a few days, summer has been on the plate.

Our diet changes irreparably with the seasons.

But how to eat well during the big heat waves that we have already started to go through?

The doctor Jimmy Mohamed gives you his advice in his column "Our Health", on Europe 1.

“Unless you are a fan, the raclette and fondue season is definitely over. It gives way to the barbecue or other aperitif. We therefore turn in principle to lighter dishes, less fat and less rich in sauce.

It is also the ideal time to rebalance food.

Clearly, it's a diet, but we don't call it that so as not to feel guilty about cracking and eating.

What foods should you eat in hot weather?

Even when it is very hot, it is important to eat enough.

Otherwise, the risk is to be in hypocaloric and therefore slowed down, even tired.

The ideal is to eat refreshing foods like cucumber, watermelon, tomatoes or melon.

The latter are moreover composed of more than 90% water.

It is also advisable to replace red meats with white meats, such as chicken or poultry cutlets, for example.

I remind you of the recommendations: no more than 500 grams of red meat per week, or three or four steaks per week.

When it comes to desserts, what are the options?

Take it easy on the fruits, they are still high in sugar! But you have the right to eat, for example, ice creams which are ultimately not that sweet. For those who want to watch their line a little this summer, know that sorbets are less caloric. It is possible to eat two scoops of it. Be careful, the cone brings additional calories, it is better to do without it ".
