Spanish pop is experiencing (enjoying) a profound generational change that tonight has been recognized at the
Independent Music
Awards (MIN Awards). The Madrid duo
Delaporte
and the Barcelona artist
Rigoberta Bandini
have been the winners of these awards that have been given since 2009 and which have been announced during a gala held in Burgos.
Delaporte
have received the awards for
Best Artist, Electronic Recording and Video
of the year 2020, when they published their second album,
The Mountains
. This mutant-style album is based on pop, introduces sounds and electronic music productions of very different kinds and contains a wide range of influences in which Latin folklore and rap also fit. This concept so open and far from aesthetic prejudices is the one that characterizes a
new generation of pop artists
who have spread - happily - throughout Spain, from the independent music industry, and that generation was the one that was generally awarded in the awards last night.

Rigoberta Bandini
, recognized with the awards for Best Emerging Artist and Best Song of the Year, for

.
The Catalan artist, who has not yet published an album and who began releasing songs in 2020, began her career as a dubbing and theater actress, but her emergence in music has caused a small gale in the indie scene (the extent of its virality may be due to the fact that a new song was published today, which will be used for the advertisement of a well-known beer brand)

His sound, an equally hybrid pop sustained by electronic production, also shares with Delaporte the lyrical interest in

In this recent release, the group re-recorded seven of their songs with various guest artists such as Zahara, Eva Amaral or Rigoberta Bandini herself with the intention of making women visible in the live music industry.

, also received two awards at the gala held at the Principal Theater of Burgos: Best Album of the year and Best Production.
In rock, Belako prevailed;
in urban music, Alizz (producer known for his work with C. Tangana);
in root music, Maria Rodés;
in flamenco, Astola and Ratón;
in jazz, Jorge Pardo and Gil Goldstein ... In total there have been 19 awards that were distributed at the gala, organized by the Independent Phonographic Union and presented by Rodrigo Cuevas.
Gala, by the way, which was not broadcast on any national television (last year it could be seen on Movistar +), but which has established itself, with 13 editions, as
the great music awards event in Spain

If the MIN Awards are awarded from the combined votes of the public, in a first phase, and a panel of experts in its final phase, the multinational record industry opted in 2019 for a basic concept of rewarding sales: the Odeon, Awarded directly to the most successful artists of the year, they have not finished taking off.
