Working from home threatens to cut 6 million jobs in Britain

An economic report warned that one in five jobs in Britain could be transferred to other countries outsourcing in the wake of the emerging Corona virus pandemic;

This threatens to lose millions of professional jobs in Britain.

According to the report prepared by the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, about 9.5 million jobs that can be done from anywhere such as programming and graphic design, which are currently concentrated in London and southeast England, could move abroad.

The report added that if the file of job transfer abroad is not dealt with by the outsourcing system and offshore companies, this will have political, economic and social repercussions, such as those experienced by the country when losing jobs in the manufacturing sector during the seventies of the twentieth century.

And “Bloomberg” news agency indicated that this warning confirms the permanent changes in the labor market after the emerging pandemic of the Corona virus and the expansion of reliance on “remote work”, which means that companies concerned with reducing their expenses can reduce dependence on the presence of large numbers of their employees in workplaces. So that it is limited to the necessary numbers only, and the expansion of reliance on the system of working from home or working remotely;

This also allows reliance on employees who do these jobs from outside Britain at a lower cost.

According to the report, working from home or remotely threatens to cut about 7.1 million jobs in the field of financial services, research and real estate in Britain. At the same time, the report warned that writing jobs in the digital services sector in Britain and moving them abroad hinder the government's plans to improve conditions.

According to the Office of National Statistics in Britain, the data indicated that 58% of companies wishing to continue relying on working from a home mainly aim to reduce expenses such as rent for premises.
