If days pass a little more peaceful near Etretat, Pete Doherty is preparing a new surprising artistic project.

The enfant terrible of English rock will be at the heart of an exhibition of drawings in partnership with a prison in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to the NME, artist Joe Henry will use the drawing and painting classes at Barlinnie prison to set up a performance, in which the singer of the Libertines will be the model and the subject.

Prisoners will be invited to participate in the project from next month, as the establishment wants to expose the diversity of cultures of its inmates.

A total of eleven drawings or paintings will ultimately be presented as part of the event, alongside works by Pete Doherty himself.

The singer is not entirely foreign to the prison environment having himself made several stays behind bars, usually for drug-related offenses.

will take place on September 22 at the Platform, in Glasgow, in the presence of the singer, who will follow up with a DJ Set.

“I've always been a Pete Doherty fan.

His poetry and his music influenced a whole generation.

His works of art have the same chaotic punk energy as his music and are similar in style to paintings by Jean-Michel Basquiat.

This exhibit will see Pete on another platform, behind bars at Scotland's toughest prison, Barlinnie.

He will work with mixed media artists, using Doherty as a canvas.

We hope that with this event, it will inspire participating artists on the road to recovery, and allow a wider audience to discuss prison reform, ”Joe Henry told NME.

Pete Doherty is also preparing to return to the stage with the Libertines, during a British tour at the end of the year.

The group is also expected to release their fourth album.
