Governor Uchibori of Fukushima Prefecture met with President Tomoaki Kobayakawa of TEPCO on the 16th, and requested that the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station be carried out to ensure that spent fuel is carried out of the prefecture. I told you that I would accept the start of work.

TEPCO plans to start work from the end of June at the earliest and aim to complete the decommissioning in 2064.

Governor Uchibori, who met with President Kobayakawa at the Fukushima Prefectural Office, requested that the spent fuel be carried out of the prefecture and that the disposal of radioactive waste should be shown at an early stage, and then the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Plant was carried out. I handed over a document confirming that I would start working.



On the 16th, the local governments Tomioka Town and Naraha Town also added a request for thorough safety and gave their consent to the decommissioning work.



Regarding the Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Plant, which was decided to be decommissioned in response to the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, TEPCO applied to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a plan to complete the decommissioning over 44 years. Approved in April.



TEPCO has asked the local government for approval regarding the start of decommissioning work.



TEPCO plans to start work from the end of June at the earliest, aiming to complete the decommissioning in 2064.



TEPCO President Kobayakawa told reporters, "I would like to proceed with the work in line with the trust of the region while firmly showing the contents and setup of the decommissioning plan."
