The Sierra Leone team landed the ultimate ticket for the next African Cup of Nations (CAN 2021), this June 15, 2021 in Conakry, by beating that of Benin 1-0 thanks to a penalty from Kei Kamara .

The Sierra Leoneans finished second in Group L behind Nigeria, after a meeting that was postponed twice because of Covid-19 tests with disputed results.
