His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, sends a message to the international community and humanitarian leaders in the world, in the virtual ceremony to announce the winner of the fifth session of the Sharjah International Award for Advocacy and Support for Refugees, which is organized on social media platforms of the Big Heart Foundation, on Sunday 20 June, which is World Refugee Day.

The award, which is sponsored and supported by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of the Big Heart Foundation and an outstanding advocate for refugee children at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees;

To honor the distinguished humanitarian efforts and initiatives of non-profit organizations in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, with a value of 500,000 dirhams

The ceremony to announce the winner of the award, which is organized by the Big Heart Foundation, the global humanitarian organization concerned with helping and supporting refugees and needy people around the world, in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees;

The importance of the award stems from its pioneering role in honoring distinguished humanitarian efforts and initiatives and their contribution to improving the outcomes of humanitarian work and its positive sustainable effects by providing role models for institutions and individuals committed to their role in securing a safer and less painful future for refugees.

The ceremony to announce the winner of the award, which in its fifth session attracted 213 participants from 41 countries, will be broadcast live on the social media platforms of the Big Heart Foundation and Sharjah TV of the Sharjah Radio and Television Authority.

It is noteworthy that four organizations have won the Sharjah International Award for Advocacy and Support for Refugees since the launch of its first session in 2017, due to their great efforts and initiatives in advocating and supporting refugees and developing society within the countries of Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The Malawian humanitarian organization "Tomaini Leto" working in the "Djalika refugee camp" won the award at its fourth session in 2020, and the International Amel Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Lebanon and one of the leading institutions in the field of humanitarian work in the Arab region, won the award; The award was awarded in its third session in 2019, and in the second session in 2018, the Malaysian “Dignity for Children” Foundation won the award, while the award in its first session in 2017 was won by the “Sustainable Development Foundation” in Yemen, in honor of its great efforts in supporting the most affected areas and providing basic living needs such as Water, food and shelter, as well as the implementation of several education and community integration projects.
