On June 14, the Satellite Remote Sensing Center of the Geological Survey of Qinghai Province (the Qinghai Satellite Application Technology Center for Natural Resources) released a set of satellite images of the "Plateau Sapphire" sand islands and bird islands in Qinghai Lake to perceive the ecological changes in the past decade.

The remote sensing monitoring of the Qinghai Satellite Application Technology Center of Natural Resources in 2020 shows that the water area of Qinghai Lake reaches 4,597.14 square kilometers, and the water area of Qinghai Lake has increased by about 308.56 square kilometers in the past ten years.

Because of this, the water surface in the sand island area of Qinghai Lake rose, and the original exposed sand was submerged by the lake.

Affected by the expansion of the area of Qinghai Lake and the rising water level, the bird island area that was bordered by the land has now been restored to an "isolated island" state.
