“Over the past day on June 14, 2021, 75 forest fires have been liquidated in Russia on an area of 1,737 hectares,” RIA Novosti is quoted as saying.
It is noted that by midnight on June 15, 69 forest fires were active on the territory of Russia on an area of 64 699 hectares.
In April 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the possibility of tougher punishment against those who set fires to hide illegal logging.
