CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour diagnosed with cancer

Anchor Christian Amanpour, chief international correspondent for CNN, revealed that she has ovarian cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.

The 63-year-old journalist, who has been away from broadcasting for about a month to treat the disease, revealed this news at the beginning of her television program on Monday, according to the New York Daily News.

"I had a successful major surgery to remove (the tumor) and I am now undergoing several months of chemotherapy... I am also fortunate because I have health insurance through work and wonderful doctors treating me," Amanpour said.

Headquartered in London, Amanpour has covered conflicts around the world during her tenure at CNN.
