Chinanews.com Ali, June 15th, title: Frontier policeman Zhang Sizu: Abandoning his Ph.D. and guarding the border for ten years, it is bitter and sweet

China News Network reporter Ran Wenjuan

Obviously admitted to the PhD student of Nanjing University, but voluntarily went to Tibet to guard the border.

Zhang Sizu, the current instructor of the Tibet Aligar Border Management Brigade, recalled the choice made ten years ago to the reporter of China News Agency, with no regrets on his face.

Scientific research is the natural direction of this young man's life.

During his master's degree, Zhang Sizu was engaged in research on soil erosion and desertification prevention and control.

In 2011, with outstanding grades, he got the admission ticket to Nanjing University for further study.

However, the "soldier complex carved into the bones" made him reluctant to let go. At that time, it coincided with the recruitment of police college students by the Tibet Border Guard Corps of the former Armed Police Force, Zhang Sizu wore a uniform as he wished.

To be a soldier on the border of Tibet, enduring hardship is standard.

Zhang Sizu started his life on the border at the Maquanhe border checkpoint in Zhongba County, Xigaze, at an altitude of 4,700 meters, and he caught up with the continuous blizzard when he first arrived.

When he was on duty, he lived in a tent. When he went to bed at night, he always put an emergency baton next to him, and stabbed him on the top of the tent from time to time. Otherwise, the backlog of snow might crush the tent.

The natural environment is difficult, and the frontier work is often accompanied by danger.

Zhang Sizu recalled to reporters a rescue mission in Nyalam Thongla in 2013.

At that time, a blizzard suddenly fell on Tongla Mountain, 5238 meters above sea level, and 67 people in 13 vehicles were trapped on the top of the mountain.

Zhang Sizu, then director of the Menbu Border Police Station in Nyalam County, went to the rescue early in the morning.

The road has been deeply buried by blizzard, and the car can only hike up the mountain after driving to the foot of the mountain.

About 3 kilometers up the mountain road, the snow slowly passed from the ankle to the thigh, Zhang Sizu climbed in the wind and snow for more than 3 hours to reach the top of the mountain.

The vehicle was covered with snow. He took a stick to test in the snow, and started digging when he hit a hard object.

At 4 in the morning, Zhang Sizu found the trapped people. In order to prevent people from falling behind, he tied them one by one with a scarf and belt and sent them to the nearest Taoist squad.

Until 7 o'clock in the morning, Zhang Sizu and his comrades rescued all the trapped persons.

At this time, Zhang Sizu's camouflage coat had been frozen into a lumpy, and he could stand up after taking it off, but he "don't know it was cold anymore" at the time.

On June 1, 2020, the Doma border police station and the resident elementary school launched a joint construction activity, and Zhang Sizu distributed gifts to the students.

A similar police presence in the middle of the night is commonplace for Zhang Sizu.

The daily work of border management is not very detailed. Daily patrols on the border line, search and rescue of trapped people, help farmers and herdsmen find lost cattle and sheep... As long as you receive a call, no matter how far or difficult it is, you will immediately go to the scene to deal with the police situation.

Of course, there is also sweetness in the bitterness of life on the border.

Zhang Sizu remembered that after successfully rescuing the crowd on the top of Tongla Mountain, a tourist called him a "hero"; in a traffic accident rescue, when he was resting on the roadside after handling the scene, the drivers of passing vehicles brought him drinks one after another. This is a kind of silent respect; thank you from strangers on your mobile phone from time to time; and the feeling of being with your "brothers" to accompany each other and depend on life and death during the years of bordering.

Zhang Sizu worked in Zhongba, Geelong, and Nyalam successively in Xigaze. In 2017, he was transferred to Ritu County, Ali.

Ten years of guarding the border, stepping on the snow and lying on the ice, Zhang Sizu has a good knowledge of the border jurisdiction.

Now, even though his daily work is far from his original major, his "student tyrant" attribute remains unchanged.

As an immigration police officer, his desk is full of books on diplomacy, immigration, international law, and law enforcement.

Once I'm free, I will study and study. There is no time to "lie down" at all.

In his view, only by learning and understanding various border management tasks can we better serve the masses and unite the people.

"I have been shaken in a difficult place like Ali, but now, I am proud of my identity." Zhang Sizu said that generations of frontiers swayed their youth on the snowy plateau and engraved their loyalty on this land. Will fulfill the mission.
