In Nagareyama City, Chiba Prefecture, from the night of the 13th to the early morning of the 14th, a maximum of 4,650 households lost power for more than two hours in the Edogawadainishi and Nishihatsuishi districts.

According to the city, Pfizer vaccines can be stored in the refrigerator at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius for a month, but due to the power outage, they were stored inside at three clinics in the city. It means that the temperature of the vaccine may have risen above 8 degrees.

In response, the city decided to dispose of the 96 doses stored at the three clinics.

However, on the 14th, the amount of vaccine that the clinic was planning to inoculate was additionally provided, so there was no effect on the inoculation.

A city official said, "We would like to strengthen the management of vaccines by cooperating with medical institutions in all situations."
