On June 14, the 2021 "Yijing Jingen" Urban Group Dragon Boat Invitational Race and Qu Yuan’s Hometown Dragon Boat Festival Staff Dragon Boat Race was held at the National Dragon Boat Training Base in Xujiachong Harbor, Zigui County, Hubei Province, the "Hometown of Chinese Dragon Boats".
This dragon boat race was hosted by the Yichang Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Zigui County Government. There were 12 teams, including 5 teams from Yichang, Jingzhou, Jingmen and Enshi, and 7 teams from local employees in Zigui County.
The competition includes 22-person dragon boat 500-meter straight race, 12-person dragon boat 500-meter straight race, and 22-person dragon boat 3000-meter circumnavigation.
Zigui is the hometown of Qu Yuan. It has always been the custom of dragon boating on the Dragon Boat Festival. It has never stopped and is known as one of the birthplaces of dragon boats.
In 2011, the State Sports General Administration awarded Zigui County the title of "Chinese Dragon Boat Hometown".
