The University of Tokyo has sentenced a male professor in his 50s to four months' suspension for repeating sexual harassment and power harassment, such as touching the body of a dispatched female employee for over a year.

The disciplinary action was taken by a male professor in his 50s who belongs to a research institute at the University of Tokyo.



According to the university, the male professor often complained to the dispatched female staff that she had shown a romantic feeling and touched her body and repeatedly sexually acted, but she often said, "I want you to stop." It means that this behavior continued for over a year.



In addition, the professor told women that he was "confused about renewing the dispatch contract" against the background of his superior position in the workplace, and also sent e-mails unrelated to work on holidays and late at night to ask for a reply. It means that he repeated the act of causing mental pain.



According to the University of Tokyo, the professor does not allow some acts, but the university has sentenced him to four months' suspension of work for sexual harassment and power harassment.



The University of Tokyo commented, "This is a serious act and is never allowed. We will take it seriously as a university and work to prevent recurrence."
