As Dr Jimmy Mohamed reminds us at the microphone of Europe 1, no study tends to show that people with anorexia present an additional risk of developing a serious form of Covid-19.

But the fragility of their physical condition calls for extra caution.

The doctor therefore recommends that they be vaccinated.

DECRYPTION

Caregivers, especially in intensive care units, have recently insisted a lot on the fragility of people who are overweight or in a situation of obesity vis-à-vis the coronavirus.

But what about very skinny people, like those with anorexia?

Monday, in

Sans Rendez-vous

, the health program of Europe 1, doctor Jimmy Mohamed responds to a father who wonders about the need to have his daughter, who suffers from anorexia, vaccinated.

The question of Jérôme, auditor of Europe 1

"We keep saying that people who are obese or overweight are more likely to have severe forms of Covid-19. What about people who are anorexic? My daughter is, is what she should get vaccinated even though she is young? "

Jimmy Mohamed's response

"In the current state of knowledge, and except for a new variant, there is no excess risk if you are ever thin or if you ever suffer from anorexia. On the other hand, one can imagine that you are probably a little more fragile Personally, I would not wait to know whether or not there will be adverse effects of the disease or a severe form on these people, and I believe that the most reasonable solution remains vaccination.

Coronavirus: follow the evolution of the situation Monday, June 14

When can teens get vaccinated?

All adolescents aged 12 and over will be able to be vaccinated from this Wednesday, June 15, without pathology criteria. For now, people who have serious illnesses can be vaccinated at 16, 17 and 18 years of age without the permission of both parents. From June 15, you will need a signed parental authorization from both parents, with the presence of one of the two parents at the vaccination center. "
