On the afternoon of June 13th, local time, in a racing competition held in Fabens, Texas, a car suddenly left the track due to "unexplained reasons", broke through the barrier, crashed into the audience and three other cars.
The accident resulted in 29 injuries, of which at least 8 were hospitalized and 3 were seriously injured.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement: “Preliminary investigations revealed that a car left a muddy track for unknown reasons and broke through the barrier. The accident also caused three other cars to be hit.”
According to the report, other information including the names of the injured has not yet been released.
The identity and condition of the driver have also not been disclosed.
