The first event was held to enjoy the taste of salmon cultivated in Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture, aiming for a new special product.

This event started trial farming in the town last season, and the town and local fishermen's cooperatives opened for the first time to enjoy the taste of trout salmon and coho salmon sold under the brand name of "Iwate Otsuchi salmon". ..

To prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, it was limited to Iwate residents, but about 3,000 people, including parents and children, visited the venue and tasted salmon sushi and soup served free of charge.

In addition, salmon were also grabbed, and elementary school students and others were holding and catching trout salmon with a body length of about 60 cm, which were put in a cage, while struggling.

In Otsuchi Town, the catch of the special autumn salmon has decreased due to the effects of rising seawater temperature, and last year due to serious poor fishing, the annual "Otsuchi Salmon Festival" was canceled.

According to the town, Otsuchi salmon will be in season in early summer, and we would like to hold a salmon festival at this time from next year onwards.

A boy in the second grade of elementary school in Morioka, who tried to grab it, said, "It was difficult to grab, but it was fun. I want to eat it as sashimi."

A local woman in her 70s who visited said, "Salmon is delicious and the best. Recently, the income of the fishery is low, so I want you to promote salmon and liven up the town from now on."
