Kawasaki City announced that the temperature of the freezer that stored the new coronavirus vaccine has risen, and it has been decided to dispose of more than 6,300 vaccines.

The freezer maker called for recovery on the 12th, saying that some products could heat up.

According to Kawasaki City, after 8:00 am on the 13th, staff members noticed that an alarm was sounding in the freezer where the vaccine was stored for mobile inoculation at facilities for the elderly.

Pfizer vaccines stored in this freezer need to be stored at minus 70 to 80 degrees Celsius, but when we checked the recorded temperature changes, the temperature began to rise from the afternoon of the 11th. On the 12th, it was over 0 degrees and was 8 to 9 degrees.

The vaccine was frozen as of the morning of the 13th when the abnormality was found, but since it seems that it was thawed once, the city has decided to discard 1066 vaccines, 6396 doses.

On the other hand, the freezer maker "EBAC" announced on the homepage on the 12th that the temperature may rise due to imperfections in the manufacture of some products, calling for the recovery of 294 units. The freezer where the problem occurred this time was also subject to collection.

The city says, "Because we already have a vaccine, it will not affect the vaccination schedule for the time being."
