On June 11, 2021 local time, in Kocaeli, Turkey, the coast of Marmara was attacked by "sea snot" and people jumped into the "sea snot" to swim.

It is reported that recently, a thick layer of mucus has emerged along the coast of the Marmara Sea and has a tendency to spread, posing a serious threat to the marine ecology.
