An American restaurant hangs $2 million on its walls, thus protecting it from customers?

A local restaurant in Pensacola, Florida, has gained worldwide fame for its quirky and unique décor.

According to the "Odity Central" website, the Irish restaurant "McGuire" is distinguished by the presence of banknotes valued at about two million dollars hanging on its ceiling and walls, which prompts many visitors to come to it for food and drinks.

This unique decor dates back to 1977 when married couple Martin and Molly McGuire decided to open their small restaurant, when the wife who was serving customers received her first tip, a dollar bill.

And then the couple decided to celebrate the first "tipping" they get by signing it and putting it inside a string hanging in the ceiling of a restaurant, but that matter later turned into an obsession for them to decide to do so with every "tipping" they get as long as a banknote can be hung on the wall or ceiling of the restaurant.

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune in 1999, Martin said that many banknotes were hung in the ceiling and walls of the 15,000-square-foot (about 1,400 square meters) restaurant.

He stressed that he deals with those "suspended money" as being one of the restaurant's assets and through which he can obtain financial loans with its guarantee.

In that interview, McGuire estimated that its unique decor consisted of about $175,000, but according to recent statistics, the restaurant now has nearly $2 million in banknotes hanging from its ceiling and adorning its walls.

It seems that this wealth in the literal sense may arouse the appetite of some customers to steal it as "at hand", and this has already happened on many occasions, including the theft of an employee of $ 5 thousand before his arrest later.

But what makes it difficult to steal that money is the presence of a signature on it from the owners of the restaurant, in addition to placing distinctive black marks on it, which makes the owners of shops and stores in the city refuse to take it from their customers, and even initiate to report to the police, knowing that those banknotes were stolen from the "Irish restaurant". To pursue the thieves and return the dollars to their owners.

The police mentioned a funny incident about a thief trying to replace the stolen green papers in a bank, but the teller immediately realized that the money had been embezzled from the McQuayger restaurant, which made the thief shoot his legs to the wind and run away, leaving his "stolen booty" in that bank.
