Woman finds her ring 46 years after losing it thanks to Facebook

A Michigan woman has found her ring, which she lost 46 years ago, thanks to social media.

Mrs. Mary Gazelle Beardsley said she had received a message on her Facebook account from a man named Chris Nord telling her that he "has something of hers".

Beardsley indicated that she did not understand Nord's intention at first, and thought that he was a fraud or someone who wanted to hack her account, before browsing his private account to find a surprise that she did not expect.

Beardsley found that Nord's last post contained a picture of a ring that Beardsley had lost in 1975 at Powers Catholic High School in Flint. "Please share this post so we can find the owner of the ring."

Thousands of people circulated the post before several Beardsley classmates commented on it, saying that the ring might belong to her because it contained her initials.

Nord said his brother found the ring in a box that was thrown in the trash about 20 years ago, and has been keeping it since then, noting that he recently decided to use social media to renew his search for its owner.

Beardsley said she was so happy after getting the ring back that she thought she would never see it again.
