After the outbreak of new crown pneumonia in Guangzhou, 11 districts of the city strictly controlled catering.

Except for social catering units in Tianhe District, which can open 50% dine-in meals, dine-in meals are suspended in the other 10 districts.

When the “pause button” is pressed for dine-in, Guangzhou restaurants rely on takeout to find a way out, and some fresh supermarkets have surged online orders.

The reporter recently visited Poly Plaza in Haizhu District and found that at noon, the entire mall was sparsely crowded.

After the dinning in the area was suspended, there was no long line of waiting at the Internet celebrity milk tea shop, and dining tables and chairs were stacked in the corner.

At the entrance of a Cantonese restaurant, there is a table specializing in storage of takeaways. Like other restaurants around it, almost no one cares about it, basically relying on takeaway orders.

A Meituan errand runner waiting outside the door of a restaurant told reporters that he had two orders to deliver, both of which were within 2 kilometers.

After the restaurant bans dine-in, it can take more than 20 orders a day, which is similar to before.

The peak order period is usually during lunch and afternoon tea time. If there are many orders for supper in the evening, they will also come out to run errands.

It is worth mentioning that some merchants that used to only do dine-in have begun to "test the water" for takeout, and some food and beverage outlets have increased their orders for takeout.

According to the person in charge of the time-honored "Marine Store" in Liwan District, the store's takeaway orders increased significantly on the first day after the dine-in was closed. The number of orders in one day was nearly 300, and the turnover far exceeded that before the epidemic.

During this period, the order volume tends to be stable, and the turnover of food delivery has increased by about one-third compared to before the epidemic.

After Guangzhou restaurants closed for dine-in, in addition to ordering takeaways, many people began to cook at home.

Ms. Zou, who works near Poly Plaza, told reporters that she used to order take-out food. Now during the epidemic, take-out can only be delivered downstairs. It feels inconvenient. So she started cooking at home and bought some vegetables at the fresh supermarket after get off work. .

Guangzhou citizens buy daily necessities at a fresh supermarket

Paul from Chile told reporters that he has lived in Guangzhou for 8 years. After the outbreak, in order to reduce the frequency of public transportation, he chose to buy daily necessities at a fresh supermarket close to home.

“I’m busy at work. I used to eat out. I prefer to eat rice rolls for breakfast. During this time, I cook a lot at home. Every few days I have to go to the supermarket to buy some vegetables and keep it at home.”

For Bagri from India, the ban on dining in restaurants has little effect on him.

"I used to eat out half of the time, but now I basically cook at home. I can buy vegetables or other food and cook it myself, which is very convenient for me."

As more and more people settle three meals a day at home, orders for fresh supermarkets have surged.

Zhou Xinliang, manager of Qixian Supermarket’s Guangzhou Poly Plaza store, told reporters: “The sales of vegetables, meat, rice and oil are now almost twice as high as usual, and the sales of disinfection products have tripled. Inventory stocking has increased to twice the original, and a multiple replenishment mechanism has been implemented throughout the day."

It is understood that Qixian is a fresh food supermarket under JD.com, and orders can be placed online 24 hours a day.

Zhou Xinliang introduced that after people reduced their trips during the epidemic, the number of offline orders in the store was reduced by 10% compared with the original, and the online order volume was about 1.5 times the previous.

"After the increase in online orders, we added a lot of manpower, including riders and people sorting goods in the supermarket."

Zhao Xianjing, the person in charge of fresh food purchases in the Guangzhou area of Hema Xiansheng, told reporters that due to the closure of some farmer’s markets, some citizens chose to buy supplies from Hema Xiansheng.

Zhao Xianjing pointed out that Hema broke the original 3 kilometers under the epidemic. The scope is limited, providing material protection for residents in closed and controlled areas such as Shiweitang Street, Chongkou Street, and Baihedong Street in Liwan District. Currently, the number of people in the community covered by the service has exceeded 140,000.
