GOLD: Portugal

David Carreira feat. Giulia B, Ludmilla & Preto Show - Vamos com tudo

Mmmmm: Soft rhythms, nice guitar pick and a nice overdose this summer.

It is the mix of afro-beat, hip-hop, R&B and zouk that makes this gem a winner.

Okay, offside warning.

Because it is not the Portuguese David Carreira who shines, but the artists from the other Portuguese-speaking countries that he has invited to unite three different continents in Portugal's European Championship match.

The brightest star is Rio de Janeiro's very cool favela queen: Ludmilla.

And the Angolan Preto Show gives us a rap that, for the sake of the unusual when it comes to football songs, is not downright painful but sharp and even enjoyable.

SILVER: Belgium

MC Devil - Deviltime

No, it's not a Grammy winner, but as a football song it's great. So good that I wish I was Belgian.

Making a cover of or sampling a piece from a previous mega-hit is a well-proven trick in sports - and Scotland's swinging Yes sir I can boogie stunt, renamed Scotland bonnie Scotland, is irresistible.

But Belgium who borrowed U can not touch this with MC Hammer is even better. Porky, spicy, roaring - just what it takes to get a ball out after a goal. That they also connected to their country's musical history with a bloated, fairly aggro trance sound makes this a carefully thought out and well-deserved silver medalist. Not to mention the genre-typical sampling of a Lukaku target just before the drop. It's deviltime!

BRONZE: Wales

Yws Gwynedd - Ni Fydd y Wal

The category of cute European Championship songs - is it available?

Yes, now it does anyway.

The Dragons, as the Welsh team is called, have been dedicated to a whole series of songs before the European Championships 2021: One of the old rock band The Alarm and another about how cash Wales usually is.

But the band Yws Gwynedd is responsible for the bronze number.

A really sweet indie pill with a happy guitar, a handkerchief and a message of fellowship.

The fact that it is also sung in Welsh makes it even more magical.

Could this be the year when the Welsh football saga comes true?

TURKEY: Poland

MC Sobieski - Hymn

Polish Representation at

EURO 2020

Polish rapper Mc Sobieski sounds like a hungover Eminem who let his little brother prodda.

Old-fashioned, boring and zero football pepper.

Hear hand out the songs in the clip.
