When Lily Allen returns to the stage next August, it won't be for a concert.

The singer confirmed on Instagram that she will be making her stage debut in London's West End in a brand new play,

2:22 - A Ghost Story

, written by Dannys Robbins (best known for his podcast

The Battersea Poltergeist

).

“I am very excited to be working on this piece.

The live aspect of my career has always been the most exciting part for me, the connection with a group of individuals and the spontaneity of what happens at night.

I feel like getting into this piece is a natural and exciting extension of it, and that it gives me the best of both worlds.

I have the opportunity to explore adult topics, to be a woman with a real point of view and to show West End audiences how much I love live performances and being in front of an audience.

I'm impatient, ”said the interpreter of

Smile

in a statement relayed by Sky News.

Scary and strange

In the play, Lily Allen will play Jenny, a woman who believes her house is haunted.

Her husband Sam (played by Hadley Fraser) doesn't believe it at all.

When the couple invite friends over for dinner, a "strange and frightening feeling" takes hold of them, and they decide, as the title of the play suggests, to stay awake until 2:22 a.m. to try and find out. the truth about the mysteries of this house.

Horror, mystery, so many themes that the singer undoubtedly knows very well… since she married David Harbor, the star of

Stranger Things

 !

Quoted by Sky News, director Matthew Dunster said the play was "a unique combination of horror and societal analysis."

2:22 - A Ghost Story

will be presented in London, at the Noël Coward Theater, from August 3.
