In Hita City, Oita Prefecture, the birthplace of the creator of the popular manga "Attack on Titan," a special box was set up for the giants in the manga to open their mouths and collect empty cans.

On the 9th, a commemorative ceremony was held in the plaza in front of JR Hita Station, and Mayor Keisuke Harada of Hita City unveiled the event to celebrate the completion of the collection box.

The collection box is based on the popular manga "Attack on Titan" by Hajime Isayama, a local manga artist.

It was made by the Nippon Foundation, which works on environmental issues, so that locals and tourists will be interested in recycling. It is 1 meter and 10 centimeters high, and has a width and depth of about 50 centimeters, and appears in manga. You can put empty cans and PET bottles in the big mouth of the giant.

The collection box was installed at a restaurant near Hita Station, and tourists and others immediately put in PET bottles.

Mayor Harada of Hita City said, "I think that collaboration with Attack on Titan will raise issues that will lead to the future. It is a very grateful initiative for us to aim for the environmental city of Hita."
