On June 8, 2021, local time, at an auction at Sotheby's in London, collectibles retailer Stanley Gibbons bought a 165-year-old stamp for $8.3 million.
The stamp titled "British Guiana One Cent Magenta" was issued during the British rule of Guyana, and its history can be traced back to 1856.
There was a shortage of stamps at that time. Its size was only 29×26 mm and it was specially printed by a local newspaper.
The picture shows a magenta stamp from British Guiana.
