Coincidence reveals the murder of his wife 40 years after her disappearance

A British man has been accused of killing his wife after her remains were found in a septic tank after she disappeared in 1982.


David Venables, 88, was arrested near the village of Kempsey in the British county of Worcestershire in July 2019. After his wife's remains were discovered in the former couple's home.


The remains were found during routine maintenance and were later identified as those of his wife, Brenda Venables.


Mr Venables will appear in Worcester Magistrates Court on June 15, according to the BBC.


"The decision to agree to the charge against the defendant was made after careful consideration of all available evidence for this complex case and the determination that a trial is required in the public interest," said Mark Ball of the Public Prosecution Office.


The Public Prosecution added that "the crimes attributed to the accused occurred between May 2, 1982 and May 5, 1982."
