At the same time, Yasin is also granted SEK 100,000 in damages for an arrest in 2019 when he was suspected of involvement in a murder, Swedish Radio reports.

- The continued detention is appealed mainly from the point of view that this case drags on for a very long time and that it is not proportionate that he should remain in custody while other charges are tried, says lawyer Frida Wallin to TT.

Mahamoud also wants the restrictions he has been imposed on lifted.

Yasin Mahamoud is charged with stamping for kidnapping, or preparation for kidnapping.

He denies any wrongdoing.

In April last year, another artist is said to have been taken to an apartment, where he was robbed and degrading pictures were taken of him.

According to prosecutors, the purpose was to extort money from the artist.

Previous failed kidnapping attempt

Some time before, an "unsuccessful" kidnapping attempt had taken place.

Mahamoud is accused of, under the guise of a musical collaboration, trying to attract the exposed artist.

However, the plans were canceled.

The accusations against Mahamoud are part of a large indictment against 30 people, many of whom are connected to the so-called Spring Village Network.

In connection with the conclusion of the trial regarding the kidnapping, Södertörn District Court decided that Yasin Mahamoud should continue to be detained pending sentencing.

Receives 100,000 for previous detention

On the same day that the lawyer appeals the current arrest, a decision was also made regarding the artist's previous arrest.

Yasin was then detained for three months on suspicion of involvement in a murder.

Since he was never prosecuted, the Chancellor of Justice, JK, has decided to give Yasin SEK 100,000 in damages for his suffering, Swedish Radio reports.
