[Explanation] Recently, the reporter came to the gymnasium in Panyu, Guangzhou. The 20 air capsules arranged in two rows in the stadium are very eye-catching.

The warehouse is equipped with a variety of equipment such as high-throughput automated virus nucleic acid extraction equipment. The inspectors are in different areas to be responsible for reagent preparation, scanning code sampling, and nucleic acid extraction, and they perform round-the-clock inspections.

[Explanation] How many testing steps does a tube of nucleic acid sample need to go through before it becomes an electronic test report?

The reporter saw at the scene that each component is a reagent preparation warehouse, a code scanning and sampling warehouse, a nucleic acid extraction warehouse, and a nucleic acid amplification warehouse.

A new coronavirus (virus) detection process, from the sample to the laboratory, first we have to scan the code sampling, which is equivalent to saying that each sample has its own bar code, similar to saying that it is in the process of the experiment. There is a positioning.

After positioning, the sample is transferred to the next bin, which is called the sampling bin.

The sampling chamber is to divide the collected throat swabs into a 96-well plate through a fully automated cupping system.

After getting the 96-well plate, we will proceed to the next step, called the nucleic acid extraction step.

We also use fully automated equipment for extraction in this extraction warehouse.

After sample extraction, the next step is QPCR (nucleic acid amplification).

Through QPCR, we can analyze the negative and positive results of the samples taken, and finally get the results of the new crown test.

[Explanation] Zhang Hongyun, head of operation of Guangzhou "Huoyan" laboratory, introduced that through the self-developed fully automated cupping system and high-throughput automated nucleic acid extractor, the laboratory has realized the automation and intelligence of the nucleic acid detection platform, reducing the number of experimental personnel The risk of infection.

Two very important equipment are mainly used to realize large-scale detection.

The first is a fully automated cupping system, which can greatly improve efficiency and reduce the number of personnel used; for the second device, a fully automated nucleic acid extraction device, (epidemic) we were able to extract 96 samples at a time at the beginning. We have developed to the point where we can extract 4 samples like 96 at a time, which greatly improves the extraction throughput.

[Explanation] According to reports, after the received nucleic acid samples have gone through the three stages of preparation, sampling, and amplification, the test results can be obtained after counting the connection time of each link in the middle, about 4 hours.

[Explanation] Guangzhou, a mega city with approximately 18.67 million permanent residents, is organizing the largest nucleic acid test in any city in the world.

The power of science and technology comes in handy at critical moments.

Since the start of the nucleic acid investigation on May 26, as of 24:00 on June 7, Guangzhou had accumulated 27,985,500 nucleic acid samples, and a total of 40 people were found to be positive.

[Explanation] On June 5th, in just 10 hours, BGI’s "Huoyan" laboratory landed in Panyu, Guangzhou. It is currently the single-unit laboratory with the highest daily detection throughput in Mainland China.

As of 12:00 on the 8th, 20 gas film warehouses and 2 inspection vehicles have reached a daily flux of 210,000 single tubes, achieving the highest daily flux of monomers.

[Concurrent] Du Yutao, Commander-in-Chief of Guangzhou "Huoyan" Laboratory

We also believe that our detection capabilities can provide strong scientific and technological support for Guangzhou and other surrounding cities, as long as they commute within two hours and cities in the Bay Area.

[Explanation] Du Yutao, the commander-in-chief of the Guangzhou "Huoyan" laboratory, said that the "Huoyan" laboratory in Guangzhou this time is a scientific and technological business card for China's overseas anti-epidemic.

So far, more than 80 "Huoyan" laboratories in more than 30 countries and regions have been launched or are under construction.

[Concurrent] Du Yutao, Commander-in-Chief of Guangzhou "Huoyan" Laboratory

"Huoyan" is in more than 20 cities in China, and more than 30 countries and regions in the world have supported the fight against the epidemic.

We have established a "Fire Eye" laboratory in Serbia, Brunei, Gabon and some countries in Africa.

In response to different countries, regions, different epidemics, and different situations, we have very rich experience in large population screening and anti-epidemic, and we believe that this experience will play an important role in this epidemic in Guangzhou, Guangdong.

[Explanation] At present, Guangzhou "Huoyan" laboratory, Shenzhen "Huoyan" laboratory, and Foshan "Huoyan" laboratory have been put into intensive use.

In addition to the Guangzhou "Falcon" series of laboratories, Guangdong Nucleic Acid Testing has formed a "legion" to race against the virus against the clock and run the "acceleration" of the fight against the epidemic.
