The fight promises to be at the height of this last season of Top Chef.

On Wednesday evening, Mohamed Cheikh will face Sarah Mainguy in the final of the famous cooking show broadcast on M6.

The star chefs Philippe Etchebest and Hélène Darroze, who supervise the candidates, answered Philippe Vandel's questions on Europe 1.

Chance does things well: the reopening of restaurants is coupled on Wednesday with the final of the culinary show the most followed by the French.

Top Chef has reached more than 3 million viewers every evening since the start of this season 12. And this Wednesday evening, after weeks of fighting at loggerheads, there are only two candidates left: Sarah Mainguy and Mohamed Cheikh.

For the occasion, two of the show's four chefs, Philippe Etchebest and Hélène Darroze, were invited to the Culture-Médias show on Europe 1.

"You have to win so you have to cook well!"

The M6 channel called not to watch the Top Chef final to enjoy the restaurants on Wednesday evening, the curfew being pushed back to 11 p.m.

But, at the same time, Mohamed's palace cuisine will face Sarah's vegetal-inspired cuisine: a tantalizing duel.

The objective for the two candidates is to imagine, then to create, an entire starter-main-dessert menu for 70 people.

"For 10 hours, it does not stop and they really need it because often, it is just barely," says Hélène Darroze.

Before adding: "And then you have to win so you have to cook well!"

As every year, they will be supported by a brigade made up of former candidates eliminated as the competition progresses.

"We have no regard for their menu"

Some indiscretions on the menus are even revealed.

In Mohamed's, we will find salsify.

Sarah relies on land-sea combinations: she will marry as a starter scallop and smoked brisket and a lamb and langoustine dish.

"Very high level associations" concocted by the candidates themselves, assures Philippe Etchebest.

"We have no regard for their menu. It's their choice," he says.

They can also count on the support of their leader.

Hélène Darroze for Mohamed and Paul Pairet for Sarah.

"Our role is above all to point out issues, to point out things on which they must be vigilant, that they pay attention. Sometimes, trying to make them understand that they are taking the wrong path and that they should think to something else, "explains Helène Darroze.

Michel Sarran and Philippe Etchebest, without a candidate, will also be able to give advice.

"We are supported by Philippe and Michel. That day, they come with us to coach the candidates, the heads of brigade, and therefore the two finalists," assures Chef Darroze.

A coaching job that is not easy

Sometimes this coaching job is not easy. We remember the argument between Paul Pairet and Sarah Mainguy during the semi-finals. This time it is Hélène Darroze who raises her voice against Mohamed. The candidate decides to delegate his lobster juice to former candidate Arnaud Baptiste. A fault for the chef: "Mohamed, he's a great sauce maker. He's the one who has to make his juices, he's the one who has to make his sauce!" This anger treats Chief Etchebest, known for not giving gifts to his candidates. "You see, it does not shock anyone when it is she who gets angry ... When it's me, it's not the same!", He laughs at the microphone of Europe 1.

The Top Chef final is to be watched on Wednesday evening from 9 p.m. on M6. But if you prefer to go and enjoy the reopening of restaurants, this latest episode will also be available in replay.
