• Florian Hessique plays a former rider with amnesia in "The present moment".

  • Its rebirth is the main theme of a decidedly optimistic film.

  • Relationships with those close to him and with horses are themes dear to the actor and director.

Florian Hessique can do everything!

He is not only the author and director of

The Present Moment

, but he also embodies the main role: that of an amnesiac rider.

"It is not out of narcissism that I hold so many positions," explains Florian Hessique to

20 Minutes

.

It came naturally because I bring up subjects that are very personal to me.

"

Victim of a riding accident ten years earlier, the hero wants to go back on horseback and relearn the uses in an equestrian center.

His gruff trainer played by Martin Lamotte and his ex-girlfriend played by Alice Raucoules help him regain his memory.

This does not go by itself for this wounded being that his relatives suffer to see thus diminished.

Solar and optimistic

"It's a theme that touches me a lot," recognizes Florian Hessique. My dad has Alzheimer's disease and I realized how hard it is for the people who stay. He made a point of honor to sign a solar work around his character who delves into his memories. "We need films that do good in this complicated period, what interested me was to show the strength of those around you in a rural setting," he insists. Nature and animals are the most important elements of this generous work, filmed this fall in the midst of a pandemic.

After basketball for

La Légende

, it is in equestrian sport that he chose to place his plot and it is no coincidence: “I have been passionate about riding since my childhood, situating this story in the world of horse was therefore obvious to me, ”he explains.

As in sport

Emeritus rider, Florian Hessique has toured with his horses in his own stud farm.

“The world of sport fascinates me because it allows you to climb very high and then suddenly fall very low.

This is what happens to my character, ”he explains.

Seeing the hero trying to get up in the face of adversity is one of the major themes of this film, conceived as a reflection on what really matters in life.

Florian Hessique will now immerse his camera in the prison world for

Face à face

, which he is in the process of finalizing.
