The number of people hospitalized due to Covid-19 continued to decline on Wednesday, the pressure being at its lowest since the end of October, according to data published by Public Health France.

The health agency listed 13,526 people hospitalized in total, a decline of 47% in one month (they were then 25,800).

This figure had not fallen to this level since October 21.

A "very favorable development"

Likewise, critical care wards, which treat the most serious cases, had 2,326 patients on Wednesday, half as many as a month ago.

This figure is at the lowest since October 22.

The Minister of Health Olivier Véran noted during a visit to the tennis tournament of Roland-Garros the "very favorable evolution" of the indicators, on this day of new lifting of a battery of restrictions.

Dining rooms have opened, as have sports halls, and gauges in cinemas, museums and theaters have been raised.

The improvement in the situation is due, among other things, to the progress of vaccination.

According to the Directorate General of Health, 29,056,963 people received a first injection, and 13,082,882 a second.

This represents respectively 55.3% and 24.9% of the adult population.
