• The Opéra de Rennes and Angers-Nantes Opéra are organizing an opera evening outside the walls this Wednesday.

  • More than thirty towns in the Brittany and Pays-de-la-Loire regions are participating in the event.

A nice way to celebrate the new phase of deconfinement.

The Opéra de Rennes and Angers-Nantes Opéra are organizing this Wednesday evening an exceptional retransmission of an operetta on giant screens installed in public spaces, often in the open air.

More than thirty towns in the Brittany and Pays-de-la-Loire regions will be able to take advantage of it from 8 p.m.

Several unusual places have been chosen for the occasion.

In Nantes, a screen will be installed under the Nefs des Machines de l'île and another on the Petit-Port racecourse.

In Rennes, you can go to the green theater in the Thabor park, the Vélodrome or the Halle du triangle or the Salle du Tambour.

In Angers, the retransmission is scheduled at the Cloître Toussaint.

The cities of Saint-Nazaire, La Baule, Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, La Flèche, Dinard, Lannion or Cesson-Sévigné also participate, among others, in the event.

Objective: to take the opera out of its usual setting in order to make it accessible to a large audience.

Places are free

The operetta screened this Wednesday evening will be

La Chauve Souris

, a masterpiece by Johan Strauss.

It will not be direct but a performance recently captured at the Rennes opera house.

Access is free, subject to availability.

Please note, in Rennes, you have to book in advance.

The operetta will also be broadcast at 8:30 p.m. on several local television stations, notably Télénantes and TVR.

On June 13, 2019, before the health crisis, a similar operation had already been developed in the two regions with the retransmission of Wagner's Ghost Ship.

More than 12,000 people were gathered at the same time on Place Graslin in Nantes, Place de la Mairie in Rennes and Place du Ralliement in Angers.
