The collapse of a multi-storey building in South Korea killed at least nine occupants of a bus that stopped in front of it.
Rescue workers pulled eight other people seriously injured from the crushed bus on which the building rubble fell, South Korean television stations reported on Wednesday.
The five-story house in the southwestern city of Gwangju was about to be demolished.
Apparently there was no construction worker on the property marked as a construction site, it said.
Why the building collapsed uncontrollably was initially unclear.
The victims were reportedly passengers on the bus.
At the time of the accident, 17 people were sitting in the vehicle in the afternoon (local time).
Video recordings showed how building rubble fell sideways onto the street and buried the bus under itself.
