A 22-year-old man was seriously injured in a night knife attack in the Berlin district of Neukölln.

According to the police, the young man suffered several stab wounds, including his legs and upper body.

After the dispute in Sonnenallee, he was admitted to hospital for inpatient treatment.

But there is no mortal danger, said a police spokeswoman on Wednesday morning.

The background to the attack was still unclear, it said.

According to initial information, the victim, who was traveling with three other men, was attacked at around 1:20 a.m. by at least one stranger from another group of men.

The companions of the seriously injured man remained uninjured.

At the scene of the crime, the police found a knife and a machete - whether these are the murder weapons remains to be determined.
