Hokkaido has been declared a state of emergency.

In Sapporo, where there are many infected people, a man who was treated at home talked about the anxiety he felt during the treatment.

With my headaches and coughs getting worse, my fever rising, and my sense of smell getting worse, how much worse my symptoms should be, should I decide to "call an ambulance" myself?

However, when I actually called an ambulance, I was told to go home while it was difficult to walk.

He responded to the interview with his real name, hoping to call attention to Corona by talking about his experience.

During home recuperation, I was suffocating, and my blood was just mixed ...

It was May 16th that Sapporo City lawyer Noriaki Nakamura (49 years old) felt something was wrong with his physical condition.

I had a fever of 37 degrees for 3 minutes, but I couldn't get a PCR test at the health center right away.

For this reason, when I was tested at a medical institution, a positive result was confirmed on May 18, and the medical institution told me to take medical treatment at home.

Symptoms gradually worsened during medical treatment.

I felt stuffy and just started to get bloody.

On May 20, the fifth day after the fever began, my headache and coughing became so severe that I couldn't eat.

The fever had risen to 38 degrees 3 minutes.

The following day, May 21, he lost his sense of smell and was no longer able to smell the orange juice and perfume he was drinking every morning.

Mr. Noriaki Nakamura

"The cough is just tough. It doesn't feel like asthma, but once I coughed, the cough didn't stop for about 10 seconds."

Can I judge the deterioration of my condition by myself?

At that time, Mr. Nakamura was most worried about whether he could judge and deal with the sudden deterioration of his condition.

On May 23, the 8th day after the fever, the "oxygen saturation" fell below 90% on a pulse oximeter lent by the public health center.

It is a value that indicates how much oxygen is taken into the body, and the normal value is 96% or more, and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's "Medical Care Guide" requires oxygen inhalation at 93% or less.

For this reason, I called an ambulance with the advice of the health center, but as a result of measuring the "oxygen saturation" again in the car, it was judged that the situation was not serious, and I was told to continue medical treatment at home.

Mr. Noriaki Nakamura

"I understand the situation because medical care is tight, but it was quite difficult even for a short distance to get on the ambulance, and it was hard when I was asked to return home. When I was refused, I was wondering when to call next time, and I was wondering if my physical condition was not so serious as to be hospitalized. "

No explanation about the drug

Mr. Nakamura was grateful that he provided a meal that was devised to give him an appetite, but he did not explain that he could prescribe medicines such as coughs from the health center for several days after the positive was confirmed. He also felt uneasy that he couldn't get it right away.

Now that my symptoms have subsided and my medical treatment at home has been lifted, I feel the importance of infection control once again, looking back on my experience at the time when my anxiety was not exhausted.

Mr. Noriaki Nakamura

"I was careful about the measures, but I was infected, but I did not take too much measures. If I felt something unusual, I immediately contacted the health center and the people around me. I would like you to take action to prevent the infection of the patient. Also, the administration may depend on the amount of resources and the speed of the inspection, but it is safe if a system is established so that the medicine and pulse oximeter can be delivered to the patient promptly. I think I can do it "
