Recently, the Siguniang Mountain National Nature Reserve Administration and the Sichuan Institute of Plant Engineering conducted a survey on the compilation and research project of "Siguniang Mountain Wild Medicinal Plants" in the reserve, and researchers discovered a special fern. Distributed in high mountain rock crevices at an altitude of 4600 meters, the fern is identified by the Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as Yulong fern.

It is understood that Yulong fern is an alpine species, mainly distributed in glacier caves and rock crevices at high altitudes.

Yulong fern is rare and endangered. Therefore, it was included in the "List of National Key Protected Wild Plants (First Batch)" approved on August 4, 1999. The protection level is the first level of national key protection. "World Conservation Union Red List of Endangered Species" (IUCN) protection.
