The Minister of Health Olivier Véran was interviewed about the coronavirus this Sunday in the program "BFM Politique", in partnership with

Le Parisien

, while the country will experience the third phase of deconfinement this Wednesday, June 9.

A step which should be maintained because the epidemic situation "continues to improve", indicated the Minister of Health, reassured that "deconfinement has not broken the virtuous dynamic".

All health indicators are down, such as the incidence rate of the country, below 100 (84 this Sunday), welcomed the minister, even prophesying that the fall in cases would continue: "We will go down below of 5,000 cases, then 2,000 cases [against a little more than 8,000 dailies currently].

"Another positive point, vaccination, with more than 50% of adults vaccinated first and 80% of people over 75 years:" We have a craze that has not dried up since the start of vaccination ", declared the minister.

No victory before winter

But be careful because these figures only relate to the first dose of vaccine, and you should not think that you are immune from that moment, as Olivier Véran reminded us: “You are protected a few days after the second injection.

The level of protection after the first injection, especially a few days after, is much too low for it to change anything in your daily life ”.

Much positive therefore, but the minister was keen not to celebrate victory too quickly: "We will not be sure to have beaten the virus until we reach November or December next, when the climatic conditions of circulation of the virus will be such. that we would be exposed to a wave… If the wave does not arrive, then we can say that the Covid is a thing of the past.

"

The mask again in June

For the Delta variant, formerly called the Indian variant, "there is no extension of this virus, but there are clusters", wanted to reassure the minister.

Thirty-one cases have been identified in the Landes, and the Regional Health Agency adds "about twenty others" on the basis of an estimate.

"The teams on site are doing investigative work to trace the chains of contamination: we are looking for contaminated people, contact cases, but also those who have contaminated positive people," explained Olivier Véran.

The minister concluded by adding that the obligation to wear a mask outdoors would be lifted as soon as possible without waiting "one day more than what will be necessary", but should wait at least the end of June.

Patience then!
