“Abu Sarah” is unable to pay 40 thousand dirhams of rent arrears

(Abu Sarah, 34 years old) suffers from accumulating the rent of his house, in which he resides with his family members in Ajman, due to his financial circumstances, as he was unable to arrange 40,000 dirhams to pay those arrears, and the owner of the house threatens him with expulsion in case of non-payment.

Abu Sarah told "Emirates Today" that his financial condition worsened last year, especially after he obtained a personal loan from a bank due to the increase in the expenses and requirements of his family members, including the school fees for his daughters, and the expenses of the household.

Abu Sarah is the sole breadwinner for his small family, which consists of three daughters (Sarah), (Shajoun) and (Manal) and his wife (who raised a house), and has been working in the government sector since 1995, with a salary of 8,500 dirhams per month.

Abu Sarah said: "My life was stable in the past years, and I did not suspect any obstacles and obstacles, but with the beginning of last year I became unable to pay the value of the rent of the house, which accumulated on me and amounted to 40 thousand dirhams, because the bank deducts 4000 dirhams from my salary. monthly to pay off a loan that I took for special circumstances, and I have only 4,500 dirhams left of my salary, from which I pay the school fees for my daughters, and there is a small part that barely meets the daily needs of the family members of food and drink.”

He added that the owner of the apartment in which he resides filed a rental lawsuit asking him to pay 40,000 dirhams in rent arrears, and in the event of failure to pay, he will be imprisoned, and he tried with the owner of the apartment to explain the situation he is going through during the current period, and to take into account his financial circumstances, but the owner insisted on paying total amount.

He said, "Currently, I do not know how to get out of this impasse, as I cannot now pay any part of it."

He expressed his fear that his family would become without a breadwinner, especially as he was threatened with imprisonment at any moment, in the event of non-payment of the rental arrears demanded by the owner of the apartment, due to the deterioration of his financial situation and the difficult circumstances he is going through.
