A series of sightings in Kashiwa City and other areas were the endangered southern ground hornbill, a bird about 1 meter in length that lives in South Africa, and is thought to have escaped from a pet shop in Ibaraki Prefecture in the fall. Therefore, the employees were engaged in the capture work.



According to the pet shop, this bird was caught in a rice field in Shiroi City, Chiba Prefecture, around 2:30 pm on the 5th.



The southern ground hornbill escapes when it sees a person, so one hides in an agricultural house near a rice field and the other catches it with a net.



At first, it was rampaging, but when I held it, I calmed down and took it back to a pet shop in Ibaraki prefecture.



The manager of the pet shop said, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused to the local people, but with the cooperation, we are relieved to be able to catch them without injury."
