At 00.02 on 29 May, an eight-hour broadcast started on Swedish radio P1, with birdsong from all over Sweden.

The bird song night was broadcast for the first time last spring, and this year 20 percent more people listened to the program - more precisely 460,000 people.

- We have found the form, and it feels like the listeners seem to like it.

We have basically only received very happy shouts, so yes, we are very happy, says Helena Söderlundh.

Naturmorgon's presenters Mats Ottosson and Jenny Berntson Djurvall were stationed in Osaby south of Växjö together with the bird expert and ecology professor Susanne Åkesson.

In addition, birdsong was heard directly from Abisko in Lapland, Ånnsjön in Jämtland, Hjälstaviken in Uppland and Stenåsabadet on Öland.

The highlight

The highlight of the broadcast was between 04 and 05. Then an hour of uninterrupted birdsong was broadcast.

After last year's program, many people got in touch and wanted more "pure" bird song, without the presenters 'or experts' comments.

- It's really direct.

We come to Öland where the red legs are completely crazy, and then suddenly a mute swan lands with a splash.

There will be as many pictures as you can make in your head yourself, says Helena Söderlundh.

- It is close to the soul.

For many, bird song means that life returns, that you get a new chance, she continues.

In total, they captured the sound of 71 different bird species during this year's edition of Fågelsångsnatten.

The program can be listened to afterwards as a podcast in the app SR play and on Naturmorgon's website.
