• The first edition of Reims Polar ended this Sunday evening.

  • The jury chaired by Jacques Weber put Iran in the spotlight by notably giving its Grand Prize to the impressive "The Law of Tehran", also awarded by the Critics.

  • France was distinguished with the Audience Award for the thriller “Black Box” with Pierre Niney starring.

The jury of the Reims Polar festival, whose virtual edition ends this evening, had a nose.

Drawing from a selection of nine films from around the world, Jacques Weber and his jurors rewarded

The Law of Tehran

, Saeed Roustayi's first film which also won the Critics' Prize.

This plunge into a city plagued by drugs and corruption leads the viewer into a world without pity and traumatizes him for a long time.

The fight to the death of a policeman to corner a kingpin takes them from the streets of the city to an overcrowded prison and a sordid police station.

An obvious virtuosity

The virtuosity of the 30-year-old filmmaker is evident from the first images of

The Law of Tehran,

so much at ease in dizzying crowd scenes as in oppressive tête-à-tête.

Power games and high-tension suspense show that Iran has nothing to envy to other countries when it comes to detective cinema.

We highly recommend this film, which will be available in theaters on July 28th.

No release date, however, for

The Slaughterhouse

, Abbas Amini's Jury Prize.

We hope that this story of conscience and trafficking in an Iranian slaughterhouse will find a French distributor thanks to this distinction.

"Black box" made in France

France also had its deserved moment of glory by receiving the Audience Award for the fascinating

Black Box

by Yann Gozlan (in theaters on September 8).

Pierre Niney always perfect leads the investigation into an air disaster in this original thriller.

This insightful hero's dive into the very mysterious world of aeronautics is breathtaking.

We let ourselves be caught up in a well-conducted enigma, the stakes of which appear as the story progresses.

The quality of these films makes you want to come back for the 2022 edition. In face-to-face this time.
