Billy Joe "BJ" Thomas got his first and biggest hit in 1969 with the song "Raindrops keep fallin 'on my head".

The song was written for the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and also won an Oscar for best song.

During his career, he recorded several songs that climbed the charts.

Including "I just can not help believing" which in Sweden is perhaps best known in Elvis Presley's version.

And then "Hooked on a Feeling", written by BJ Thomas' childhood friend Mark James.

The song became better known a few years later when Björn Skifs & Blåbus did a cover that topped the American singles chart.

In March, it was announced on BJ Thomas' Facebook page that he had contracted lung cancer. He died at his home in Arlington, Texas, USA, on Saturday. He turned 78 years old.
