The International Astronomical Union (IAU) announced on May 24, 2021, approving China's proposal for the naming application for the eight lunar landforms near the landing site of Chang'e 5.

So far, there are 35 Chinese place names on the moon.

  The 8 landforms are:

  Tianchuan base (Statio Tianchuan), which means ships sailing in the Milky Way.

  Mons Hua (Mons Hua), named after China's Xiyue Huashan.

  Mons Heng (Mons Heng), named after China's Nanyue Heng Mountain.

  Pei Xiu, a geographer during the Western Jin Dynasty in China.

  Shen Kuo, Chinese astronomer and mathematician in Song Dynasty.

  Liu Hui (Liu Hui), a mathematician of Wei State in the Three Kingdoms Period of China.

  Song Yingxing (Song Yingxing), a scientist at the end of the Ming Dynasty in China, whose "Heavenly Creations" is known as the "Encyclopedia of Chinese Crafts in the 17th Century".

  Xu Guangqi (Xu Guangqi), agronomist, astronomer and mathematician of Ming Dynasty in China.
