• On May 17, Public Health France published visuals showing people hugging each other to warn about discrimination and violence suffered by LGBT + people.

You may have seen them in a train station or in the metro.

Since May 17, international day against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia, Public Health France has distributed five posters showing hugs in order to fight against discrimination against LGBT + people.

One of these posters reads “Yes, my father is gay”, on another “Yes, my roommate is lesbian”.

On social networks, the campaign is hijacked with the addition of a visual that is not part of the campaign.

The phrase “Heterosexuality is no longer trendy” was added to a visual showing the logo of the public body.

FAKE OFF

Public Health France has not communicated with this sentence.

This is not included in the communication kit for this campaign.

For this, Public Health France has chosen this slogan: "Faced with intolerance, it is up to us to make a difference".

To raise awareness among the French, the public body is broadcasting a two-minute video, podcasts and five posters showing hugs.

These visuals are relayed on the Internet as well as in stations or on street furniture.

The campaign is to last three weeks and is also accompanied by the launch of a website, questionsexualite.fr.

Public Health France emphasizes that the risk of a characterized depressive episode, suicidal thoughts or suicide attempt is twice as high in lesbian, gay or bi people compared to heterosexual people.

In 2020, the police and the gendarmerie recorded 1,590 victims of “anti-LGBT” crimes.

A figure down 19% compared to 2019, but the year 2020 was marked by the health crisis and two confinements, recalls the Ministry of the Interior.

On the other hand, the number of victims recorded by the police was increasing in 2019 and 2018.
