China News Agency, Beijing, May 28 (Guo Chaokai) According to the China National Space Administration, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) has recently approved China's proposal for the naming of the eight lunar landforms near the Chang'e-5 landing site.

So far, there are 35 Chinese place names on the moon.

  According to reports, the landing site of Chang'e 5 was named the Tianchuan base (Statio Tianchuan).

Tianchuan is the official name of ancient Chinese stars and belongs to the stomach of the twenty-eight stars.

Previously enjoyed the title of Statio (base), only the Apollo 11 landing site, Statio Tranquillitatis, and the Chang'e 4 landing site, Tianhe base (Statio Tianhe).

  In addition, the five annular pits near the landing site of Chang'e 5 are named Peixiu, Shen Kuo, Liu Hui, Song Yingxing, and Xu Guangqi; the two mountains near the landing site are named Huashan and Hengshan respectively.

Among them, Pei Xiu was a geographer during the Wei and Jin Dynasties of China; Shen Kuo was an astronomer and mathematician in the Northern Song Dynasty of China; Liu Hui was a mathematician during the Wei and Jin Dynasties of China; and Song Yingxing was a scientist of the late Ming Dynasty in China. It is the "Encyclopedia of Chinese Crafts in the 17th Century"; Xu Guangqi is an astronomer and mathematician in the Ming Dynasty in China.

Huashan and Hengshan belong to the five famous mountains of China.

  On November 24, 2020, China successfully launched the Chang'e 5 probe; on December 1 of the same year, the Chang'e 5 landed in the lunar pre-selected landing zone.

In the early morning of December 17, 2020, the Chang'e-5 returner carried lunar samples back to Earth. China's first lunar sampling and return mission was a complete success.
